About College Explored

We’re all individuals, with unique histories, experiences, goals and needs. College Explored was created for students who may not feel seen or best served by a one-size-fits-all college admissions process.

Our goal is to celebrate and empower all students as we collaborate to chart their journey to college and beyond. Our approach is supportive, low-stress and informed by years of experience working with neuro-diverse students as well as those transitioning from alternative educational experiences or periods of hospitalization. Our belief that there are many amazing college experiences available to each person informs everything that we do.

College Explored is helmed by Lora Lewis, a long-time educator and professional writer. Lora’s work with students in enhanced by her extensive background in disability policy, special education, and support services for differently-abled young people and their families. She holds a B.A. in English from UC Berkeley, a M.A. in English and Creative Writing from Boston University, and a M.A. In Educational Leadership from St. Mary’s College. She also earned teaching credentials at Mills College and a Certificate in College and Career Counseling from UCLA.

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.
